How to reprogram ECU for BMW 750li E66 with Autel MS908P

This is a detailed guide to reprogram airbag SGM ECU for BMW 7 series 750li E66 2006 when ECU is replaced. Tool used is maxisys ms908 pro j2534, it support program BMW and Mercedes ECU!

Step 1

Before using Auto Diagnostic tool Autel MS908P to do ECU programming, you should make sure your car has a stable voltage power supply, make sure you fix battery clamps properly.

Then charge your Autel MS908P tablet and assure to connect it to stable network, WIFI or Ethernet cable both OK.

You can check the network status icon on right bottom corner on screen.

Last thing to prepare is connect the J2534 ECU Programming Device with Autel MS908P tablet.

Step 2

Now power on Autel MS908P and click “Diagnostics” icon.

Choose BMW

Turn off ignition, wait 10 seconds then turn on again.

And you will see three options: Read out vehicle data, VIN and Basic features.

Choose “Read out vehicle data” and it will show you car information as below:

Step 3

Click “OK” and you will see menu as below, choose “CIP” function.

It will retrieve and show vehicle configuration. Confirm that by click “OK” to go on.

After that Autel MS908P will communicate with all control units and check the status.

The checking process may cost several minutes, please be patient.

Step 4

When checking finish, it will ask if you replaced any control unit. Click “Yes” or “No” accordingly to confirm.

Now select the control unit you want to reprogram and click “OK”. In this case it’s Airbag SGM SIM Module.

After that click “Programming and Coding” then choose “Selective Update”.

Choose to program and encode the Airbag SGM SIM Module. (Check the boxes accordingly)

Step 5

Now you will see an information page, click “Execute Measures Plan” to start reprogramming ECU.

Follow the tips: turn off car ignition then turn it on.

During this process, please follow the tips: turn off ignition and remove remote key from key slot, wait 10 seconds, insert remote key into key slot and turn on ignition.

I’m here to tell you

It’s possible to coding NTG2.5 on the benchand test a few things, using SD connect C4 etc.

What you need to do is connect NTG2.5 with your Benz diagnostic tool SDConnect C4, you need to connect KL30/KL31/CAN-H/CAN-L, you don’t need to connect the ignition pin because NTG2.5 doesn’t have KL15.

And, you need to attach a 120ohm resistor as a terminal between CAN-H and CAN-L, it’s a request of CAN BUS protocol. You can check this. Found it on a forum

Then, if your connection are all correct, you should use vediamo to code your NTG2.5, the CBF file is HU25.cbf, you can’t use Xentry/DAS because there is no ZGW on your bench, so the Xentry/DAS will never be connected with NTG2.5.

If you want to test rear view camera, you just need connect your camera to the NTG2.5, but you need supply +12V power to your camera manually.

Manually trigger the rear view camera output via Vediamo:

Just press “Rev. Cam.” item like below image in the system setting page, the rear view camera will active if you power the camera up.

On a side note: KL31 bridge

KL 31 just means the Negative Battery Terminal / Ground (I am from germany and the schematics here and in other countries say that Klemme 31 (short KL. 31) is the Minus Terminal of an Mb Star C4.

So just connect Pin 15 (A-Block of the Quadlock Connector) to 12V+ (KL. 30) and Pin 12 to the Ground/Negative Terminal of your power supply (KL.31). And now press the ON Button and pray it works (which works always for me  )
